Become a camp host for Destination C.A.M.P. in 2024
L’Association des camps du Québec (ACQ) is recruiting member camps wishing to participate in the Destination C.A.M.P. program that allows children aged between 11 to 17 to stay in a sleepaway camp at lower costs, summer after summer.
What does this involve?
Participating camps undertake to offer, for at least two consecutive years, places for campers that the costs will be covered by the program. The camps will be matched with participants who have applied to the program and who have been selected by a selection committee.
Training will be offered for counsellors of participating camps to promote the learning that can be achieved through the experience of a camp stay. The objective: to support the development of Confidence, Autonomy, Motivation and Perseverance through various games and feedback.
Registered camps will receive a support kit at the beginning of December 2023. Camps that are in their second or third year of the program will receive a letter of intent for their campers to renew their stay.
Registrations
Destination C.A.M.P. is expected to grow and expand with the arrival of future donors! We therefore invite you to be part of the camps that propel the program by filling out the registration form now (only available in french).
Camps have until Friday, December 1st, 2023, to register for the 2024 season.
The registration for the participants will open on January 8, 2024.
Pressure tactics from school Staff
For some time now, the ACQ has been monitoring the potential effects of pressure tactics from school staff on camps. Members who offer the certified “Nature Class/Discovery Class programs” and “Group programs” are invited to compile information pertaining to this situation and monitor their emails in the coming weeks.
Here is the type of information that, for example, could be requested for each cancellation or any adjustments (regardless of the reason):
- Academic level of participants
- How many participant cancellations (lost camper days)
- Reasons given for cancellation or adjustment
- Scheduled date, cancellation date, original reservation date
- type of establishment (private or public)
- Expected length of stay (1 day only, how many X nights)
Annual membership renewal for certified camps
The time has come to renew your membership as a certified or newly certified camp following the visit received in the summer of 2023.
Increase in the membership fee
The board of directors voted for a 3% increase for the 2023-2024 contribution, below the rate of inflation. All certified camps (other than the municipal day camps for which the renewal ends on February 1st) will receive by email the link to the form.
Renew my membership
You have until November 1st, 2023 to complete the membership form, after which you will receive your invoice.

Opening of registration for new members 2023-2024
For new camps, the registration period for the membership has begun! Become a member of the Association des camps du Québec (ACQ) to benefit from multiple advantages.
What does being a member of the ACQ involve?
Joining as a member of the ACQ means being part of a community of more than 370 organizations that meet the highest standards of quality and safety in the camp industry. Each year, several camps embark on the process of obtaining the “certified camp” label to show the rigur with which they apply the numerous ACQ standards and guidelines. Support and training are also offered to new joining camps to facilitate the path leading to certification or compliance.
